SpecDot (spec-dot.com) is operated by Tyler Davis, as a sole proprietor. This page explains what data we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

  • Account info: name, email address, company name and logo (if you add one).
  • Project data: blueprint PDFs, project addresses, material specs, pricing and allowance amounts, messages between builders and clients.
  • Billing info: handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
  • Basic usage data: things like login timestamps and error logs, used to keep the service running.

Blueprints and homeowner information

Blueprint files often contain a homeowner's name and address. We treat these files as sensitive: access is restricted to the Builder who uploaded them and the Client(s) they've explicitly invited to that specific project. No one else — including other Builders using SpecDot — can see them.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run SpecDot, and share only what each one needs to do its job:

  • Supabase — hosts our database, file storage, and authentication.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments.
  • Resend — delivers transactional email (invites, password resets).
  • Vercel — hosts the application itself.

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else for advertising purposes.

How long we keep data

When you delete a project, plan, or dot, it's immediately hidden and kept in a recoverable state for 30 days, then permanently removed — including its files in storage. This gives you a window to undo an accidental delete without keeping data around indefinitely.

Your rights

You can update most of your account information yourself from Settings. For anything else — exporting your data, deleting your account entirely, or questions about what we hold on you — contact us and we'll handle it directly. (A fully self-serve export/delete flow is planned but not built yet — until then, this goes through us manually.)

Children

SpecDot is a business tool for construction professionals and their clients. It's not directed at, and we don't knowingly collect data from, children under 13.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to project data is restricted at the database level so that a user can only ever query rows for projects they're actually a member of.

Changes

We may update this policy as SpecDot evolves. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
